- Chat and Wellbeing Data: To provide holistic reflection and AI-driven insights, we collect the text of your chat messages, emotional contexts, and any images you choose to upload within the chat.
- Body Map Data: Markers and body parts you select within the app to track your emotional and physical sensations.
B. Automatically Collected Information
- Device Identifiers: We generate an anonymous Device Installation ID to enforce fair usage limits (rate limiting) for our AI services, especially for users without an account.
- Usage Data:Basic diagnostic and interaction data to help us improve the app's performance and stability.
C. Purchase Information
If you subscribe to premium features, payment and subscription statuses are processed by the respective app stores (Apple App Store / Google Play Store) and managed via our revenue partner, RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your credit card information.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- Providing the Service: To process your chat messages and generate AI reflections.
- Cloud Sync: To synchronize your chat history and markers across your devices (if you are logged in).
- Service Security and Fairness: To monitor quota usage and prevent abuse of the AI API via device IDs and user accounts.
- Transactions: To process subscriptions and unlock premium features.
3. Third-Party Services
We utilize trusted third-party service providers to power Emotionly. These providers only have access to the data necessary to perform their specific functions and are obligated to protect your data:
- Supabase: We use Supabase for our backend infrastructure, including database storage (for your synced chats and markers) and secure user authentication.
- OpenAI:Your chat messages and uploaded images are securely sent to OpenAI's API to generate AI responses. Note: OpenAI does not use data submitted via their API to train their foundational models.
- RevenueCat: Used to manage your subscription status and validate in-app purchases.
- Apple / Google: For processing Apple Sign-In and handling secure App Store payments.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Your data is stored locally on your device for fast offline access.
- Cloud Storage: If you have an account, your data is securely transmitted over HTTPS and stored in our Supabase database to enable cross-device syncing.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location (such as under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deleteyour account and associated data directly within the app (e.g., via the “Delete Account” or “Delete Conversation” features).
- Opt-out of specific data collection (e.g., choosing to use the app anonymously without cloud sync, though AI processing is still required for the core feature).

Emotionly is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete the information.
7. Medical Disclaimer
Emotionly is a holistic reflection tool and is nota substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. We do not collect “Protected Health Information” (PHI) as defined by HIPAA, and the app should not be used for medical emergencies.
